Pernilla 69

One of the best-known easy chairs of the Scandinavian mid-century design revolution, Bruno Mathsson’s original Pernilla made its debut already in 1943. The innovative shape struck a chord with the public from the start, with Mathsson naming the chair after Swedish journalist Pernilla Thunberger, who had interviewed him previously that year. He would go on to revisit the design numerous times over the years, finally perfecting it in 1969 as part of his collaboration with DUX. This version included a number of new features, such as the padded armrests.

The original catalogue text for the Pernilla 69 claimed it could take the human body to a place of total relaxation. It’s as true a statement today as it was then. The pressed, moulded beech wood frame and masterly produced cushions combine to give you the best of both form and function, elevating the quality of comfort and the aesthetics of the room in which Pernilla is placed.
